WHAT HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED:
If the funding is limited and there is an old abandoned bridge, JMEC has solutions.
JMEC has been Bridge Design Consultant for the Galindo Creek Trail Improvement Project. Work included designing soldier pile retaining wall, tie-back wall and a pedestrian bridge crossing Galindo Creek.
An abandoned 74-ft truss bridge in the City of Antioch, that was owned by the East Bay Regional Park District, was relocated and re-used at the project site . The existing concrete bridge deck was removed prior to relocation for ease of transport. The bridge was then refurbished with a new concrete deck and the weathering steel truss was cleaned by sand-blasting.
The refurbished bridge is less than 50% of the cost of a new bridge.
